FUEL is now live inside the free Project 61 app.
Built specifically for truck drivers, FUEL is a new in-app feature designed to help users build stronger nutrition habits without calorie counting, guilt, or unrealistic expectations.
Nutrition affects energy, focus, mood, recovery, and long-term health. In trucking, it matters even more because the job makes consistency harder. Schedules are demanding. Stress is constant. Sleep is not always predictable. Food options are often limited. Drivers are trying to make better choices in an environment that often works against them.
That is why Project 61 built FUEL, a new in-app feature now live inside the free Project 61 app.
Why nutrition matters for drivers
Drivers already understand fuel.
If you put the wrong fuel in your truck, performance drops, breakdowns happen sooner, and everything costs more. Your body works the same way.
Nutrition is not a side topic for drivers. It is a daily lever that affects energy, focus, mood, and long-term health. It can influence how a driver feels during the day, how well they recover at night, and how sustainable the job feels over time.
But most nutrition advice was not created for truck drivers.
Drivers do not need more lectures. They do not need guilt. They do not need a system that assumes unlimited time, perfect options, or a controlled routine. They need something practical that works in the real world, on the road, under pressure, with limited time and imperfect choices.
What FUEL is
FUEL is not a diet plan.
It is a simple daily checklist designed to keep the fundamentals in front of drivers and make consistency easier.
Inside FUEL, drivers can build awareness and habits around the primary building blocks of better nutrition, including:
- Protein
- Vegetables
- Fruit
- Whole grains
- Healthy fats
- Non-sugar drinks
The goal is not to hit 100 percent. The goal is to make the next meal a little better than it would have been otherwise, and then repeat that often enough to create momentum.
Why this approach works
One of the ideas behind FUEL is simple: most drivers eat three to four times a day.
That means every week brings dozens of chances to make one slightly better choice. Not perfect choices. Better choices.
Over time, those choices add up.
That is how long-term change actually happens in trucking. Not through guilt. Not through some dramatic reset. Not through trying to overhaul everything overnight.
Just small, realistic improvements repeated often enough to matter.
A few things we want drivers to get from FUEL
FUEL is designed to help drivers:
- build steadier energy
- stay fuller longer
- reduce the crash that often comes with poor food choices
- support better focus and mood behind the wheel
- make better choices with less friction
- reduce some of the long-term risk tied to poor nutrition consistency
One key driver behind this approach is fiber. It is one of the most overlooked and most powerful tools for driver health. Fiber helps support steadier energy, better digestion, and greater satiety, all of which matter in a profession defined by long hours sitting and limited food options.
Just as important, FUEL helps remove some of the mental burden.
Drivers should not have to figure all of this out alone. FUEL gives them a simple way to stay aware, stay consistent, and keep moving in the right direction.
Part of the 5 Axles of Health™
FUEL is one of the 5 Axles of Health™, Project 61’s driver-first framework for helping truck drivers build better long-term health in a job that makes health harder.
The 5 Axles are:
- FUEL
- MOVE
- RECHARGE
- MENTAL DRIVE
- PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Each axle matters on its own, but they also work together.
When FUEL improves, the other Axles often get easier too. Drivers may have more energy to MOVE. Better RECHARGE becomes more realistic. MENTAL DRIVE becomes easier to protect. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE becomes easier to stay on top of.
That is why driver health has to be viewed as a system, not a collection of isolated habits.
This is not about being perfect
There will be off days. That is normal.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is a few better choices more often.
That is how long-term change happens in trucking. That is how drivers build momentum. And that is how healthier habits become more realistic and more sustainable over time.
This is just the beginning
FUEL is now live, and it is just the beginning.
Project 61 is continuing to build more tools and resources around the full 5 Axles of Health™ throughout 2026, all with the same goal: helping truck drivers live longer, healthier lives through practical support built for life on the road.
