Project 61 Announces RECHARGE, New Sleep and Recovery Resource for Truck Drivers

Newest addition to the Project 61 Mobile App will help professional drivers build healthier sleep habits around the realities of life on the road

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Sept 1, 2026 – Project 61, a nonprofit dedicated to helping truck drivers live longer, healthier lives, today announced that RECHARGE, the sleep and recovery Axle within its 5 Axles of Health™ framework, will launch September 7 in the free Project 61 Mobile App.

RECHARGE is designed to help professional drivers build greater awareness around sleep, recovery and the everyday habits that can support better rest over time.

For professional drivers, getting consistent, restorative sleep can be difficult. Irregular schedules, overnight driving, noise, temperature, parking availability, stress and time away from home can all make traditional sleep advice difficult to follow.

“Most people know sleep matters, but simply telling a professional driver to ‘get eight hours’ ignores the realities of the job,” said Jeremy Reymer, Founder and CEO of Project 61. “RECHARGE is about giving drivers practical ways to improve what they can control and helping them make better choices consistently, even when the circumstances are not ideal.”

RECHARGE was developed to be simple, practical and supportive rather than clinical or compliance-driven. The goal is not to judge drivers for short nights or disrupted schedules, but to help them recognize patterns, build healthier habits and improve consistency over time.

“The goal is not to give drivers another scorecard that tells them they failed,” Reymer said. “We want to help them build awareness, recognize patterns and make practical improvements over time. Better consistently beats perfect temporarily.”

RECHARGE will join Fuel, Move, Mental Drive and Preventive Maintenance as one of Project 61’s 5 Axles of Health™, a practical framework designed around the major areas of health that affect professional drivers.

The launch also reinforces Project 61’s broader focus on the connection between driver health and safety.

Sleep and recovery can affect energy, concentration, mood and daily function. For professional drivers, those effects carry additional importance because their work requires sustained attention and readiness behind the wheel.

“Driver health is not separate from the safety conversation,” Reymer said. “When someone is operating an 80,000-pound vehicle, how that person feels and functions matters. Helping drivers sleep and recover better is good for the driver, good for their family and good for the road.”

More than 4,000 drivers are currently using the free Project 61 Mobile App, with nearly 150 fleets participating in Project 61 programs and resources.
